James Conroy

James Conroy is Professor of Religious and Philosophical Education (Pedagogy, Praxis & Faith) and Dean of Global Engagement for Europe at the Universitiy of Glasgow. He is also Academic Director of ECAS.

David Duncan

David Duncan is the University of Glasgow’s Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary. Prior to this, David was Registrar and Secretary at the University of York, a post he held for 8 years. Before then he was Secretary of the University of Dundee from 2001-8. David is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and holds a Masters degree and a PhD in history from Queen’s University, Canada.

Burkhardt Funk

Burkhardt Funk is professor for information systems at Leuphana University. His research interests encompass building statistical models and decision support systems based on methods from machine learning and Bayesian statistics in a variety of application contexts such as E-Health and E-Commerce.

Marcus Beiner


Marcus Beiner is Head of the Unit “Europe, International Affairs” and Deputy Head of the Division “Research, Innovation, Europe” at the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony. His professional experience include research and university management positions at the RWTH Aachen University, the Volkswagen Foundation (research funding agengy) and the University of Bremen. Marcus Beiner holds a PhD in Philosophy.

Rachel Sandison is Vice Principal, External Relations at the University of Glasgow. Rachel’s responsibilities include strategic leadership for domestic and international student recruitment; international affairs and partnership development; marketing, brand and reputation; undergraduate and postgraduate admissions; fundraising & alumni relations; and widening participation. Rachel is a chartered marketer and a CASE Global Trustee. She is a member of the Universities Scotland International Committee and sits on anumber of sector advisory boards. She is the University of Glasgow’s senior leader for the Universitas 21 network and The Guild of European Research
Intensive Universities.

Jörg Philipp Terhechte

Jörg Philipp Terhechte is Professor of Public, European and International Law at and Vice President of Leuphana
University Lüneburg.
