ECAS cordially invites you to the first of many editions of the Joint Seminar Series between Leuphana’s Faculty of Education and Glasgow’s School of Education. The seminar takes place on

Wednesday, 27 October 2021
3 pm – 4:30 pm GMT / 4 pm – 5:30 pm CET via Zoom.

Prof. Stephen McKinney PhD (University of Glasgow) and Prof. Dr. Lars Alberth (Leuphana University Lüneburg) will talk about social inequities and social inequalities experienced during childhood.

After a successful first edition of the Lower Saxony – Scotland Joint Forum, we are thrilled to announce that the second edition will take place on Monday, 22 and Tuesday, 23 November 2021 as an online conference.

The Joint Forum is a two-day event organised by the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS) in collaboration with Leuphana University Lüneburg and the University of Glasgow. The Joint Forum constitutes the perfect platform to enable exchange as well as joint collaborations between academics, staff and students from higher education institutions in both regions.

On the first day, we will hear interesting discussions surrounding partnerships with universities and the impact as well as relevance such knowledge transfer may have for society at large by renown experts. The second day is devoted to academics, staff and students by giving them the opportunity to host their own workshops on joint topics they are working on.

We are thrilled to announce the first of many editions of the Lower Saxony – Scotland Joint Forum set to take place on Monday, 23 and Tuesday, 24 November 2020.

It is a two-day event organised by Leuphana University Lüneburg together with the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS) and the University of Glasgow. It is supported and financed by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK).
The Joint Forum shall build the basis for a yearly returning conference functioning as a networking platform for researchers, academics, staff and students from both countries.

Due to the continued uncertainties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and potential disruption to travel arrangements, ECAS decided to organise the event in an online format.

Digital worlds: contexts, concepts and methodological explorations

Contemporary culture is characterised by the ubiquity of digital media technologies. Techniques of processing, storing, and transmitting data are continuously reconfigured and with them our everyday practices of connecting, relating, sharing, competing, and communicating. In their researchers’ day on Sept 3 2020, the Social and Digital Change Group (SDC) of University of Glasgow and the Centre for Digital Cultures (CDC) of Leuphana-Universität Lüneburg present some of their current research topics. Together we ask the question how we can understand and shape digital cultures today.

ECAS is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom Meeting!

In 2019, the Council of Europe celebrates its 70th anniversary. This provides a great opportunity to not only reflect on its achievements in upholding democratic values, the rule of law, and human rights, but also to address the challenges that the Council of Europe is currently facing and that it will likely be confronted with in the future.

The Ministry for Federal and European Affairs of Lower Saxony will hold this event together with Leuphana University and the European Centre for Advanced Studies to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
