Ian Ganley

Ian Ganley is Professor of Cellular Homeostasis in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. His laboratory investigates autophagy, an essential cellular recycling process that preserves cell health. His research focuses on how damaged mitochondria are removed via this pathway, which is frequently disrupted in disease, particularly neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s. His team has uncovered key mechanisms underlying mitochondrial autophagy and developed innovative tools that are now used by academic and industry partners to identify and validate new therapeutic targets.
