Prof. Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal is Head of the Scientific Data Management Group at TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, Professor at the Data Science Institute of the Leibniz University Hannover, member of L3S Research Center, and ELLIS Fellow. Her research focuses on trustworthy and neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs, semantic data management, and AI-driven scientific discovery. She has authored over 250 scientific publications and coordinated numerous national and European research projects. Her work investigates how integrating machine learning, symbolic reasoning, and scientific knowledge can improve the transparency, interpretability, and reliability of AI systems. She is particularly interested in developing knowledge-driven research infrastructures that support FAIR data management, reproducible science, and responsible AI adoption across scientific disciplines.
