Jörg Götte is Professor of Theoretical Optics in the School of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Glasgow. His research addresses light–matter interactions involving optical angular momentum, chirality and topology, including optical helicity, topological structures in light such as skyrmions and hopfions, chiral light–matter interactions and singularimetry. Before moving to Glasgow he was an Associate Professor at Nanjing University, and he maintains collaborations in Germany, Canada and Japan. In 2025–26 he spent nine months as a visiting professor at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden and at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. Together with Ilja Gerhardt (Leibniz Universität Hannover), he was awarded an Excellence Track grant in 2026 for a joint project on quantum sensing with structured light in atomic vapours.
