Vacancy Notice: Digital Communications, Website Management &Event Coordination

We are looking for a Student or Graduate Assistant (30 hours/month) starting 1 October 2026.
In this role, you will support our team in further developing ECAS as a dynamic cooperation hub for academic exchange between Lower Saxonian and Scottish higher education institutions. You will take ownership of ECAS’ digital presence and contribute to the successful delivery of international academic events. Working closely with the ECAS team, you will help shape our website, support innovative digital communication, and play a key role in organising our flagship event, the annual Lower Saxony–Scotland Joint Forum, as well as online formats, workshops and networking activities.

Your Profile

  • Registered student at Leuphana University Lüneburg or another Lower Saxonian university
  • Strong technical affinity and enthusiasm for digital communication, website management and online technologies
  • Practical experience with WordPress; experience with Elementor is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of web design, usability and creating attractive, user-friendly websites
  • Basic knowledge of website administration (e.g. SSL certificates, plugins, updates and troubleshooting)
  • Experience with, or willingness to quickly learn, digital tools for event registration, conference management and online collaboration
  • Confidence in learning and working with new software and technical systems
  • Interest in supporting academic events from both a technical and organisational perspective
  • Experience with standard office applications
  • Excellent written and very good spoken English skills
  • High level of personal initiative, reliability and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of copyright, accessibility and data protection requirements in website management
  • Take responsibility for maintaining, improving and further developing the ECAS website using WordPress and Elementor

Your Tasks

  • Design, create and optimise attractive, user-friendly web pages and ensure website content remains accurate and up to date
  • Ensure the technical functionality of the website, including plugin updates, SSL certificates, troubleshooting and general maintenance
  • Set up and manage online registration systems and conference management platforms for ECAS events
  • Support the technical preparation and delivery of online, hybrid and on-site events using a variety of digital tools
  • Play an active role in organising and delivering the annual Lower Saxony – Scotland Joint Forum, providing both technical and practical on-site support
  • Support the organisation and coordination of additional workshops, meetings and networking events
  • Create and maintain FAQ pages and other website content
  • Support the communication and promotion of ECAS initiatives, flagship projects, conferences and events
  • Identify opportunities to improve ECAS’ digital communication and contribute ideas for enhancing the website and online engagement
  • Conduct research on various topics and provide administrative support where required
