Franziska Richter Assencio is Professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy, as well as Speaker of the Center for Systems Neuroscience Hannover. Her research focuses on development of therapy for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. She also studies infectious diseases as contributor to the risk of neurodegeneration. Her main interest is exploring mechanisms of alpha-synuclein pathology and it’s contribution to the development of motor and non-motor symptoms. She is an internationally recognized specialist on animal models of Parkinson’s disease and pre-clinical drug development.
