Viola Wiegand is a Lecturer in Education (TESOL) and co-convenor of the Language and Society Research Group at the University of Stirling. She coordinates the MSc TESOL (Online) programme. Her research focuses on analysing meaning in language use through methods from corpus linguistics (identifying patterns in large collections of texts), discourse analysis, and linguistic and surveillant landscape research. Her research interests within education include data-driven learning (language learners directly engaging with linguistic patterns) and student engagement in both “formal” and “informal” online course design.
