Dr Joe Grove is a Senior Lecturer in Virology based at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR), where his research involves harnessing cutting-edge artificial intelligence alongside classical experimental virology to investigate the structure, function and evolution of viral proteins. His focus is viral entry glycoproteins, but the combined computational and experimental approach is broadly applicable across molecular virology. Dr Grove led the development of Viro3D (https://viro3d.cvr.gla.ac.uk/), a novel, freely accessible structure prediction database which provides new understanding of viral evolution and offers novel opportunities for accelerating and enhancing public health benefits and pandemic preparedness. Dr Grove is the Glasgow lead for collaborative initiatives with Lower Saxony, establishing strong links through the CVR-HZI Collaborative Development Fund and the Hannover-Glasgow Infection Strategy (HAGIS).
