Academic Position: Sarah is Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Dean of Medical Research at the University of Edinburgh. In her research, she focuses on understanding how local oxygen and nutrient availability can reprogram neutrophil behaviour in acute and chronic inflammation. Her main interest is in exploring the mechanism by which hypoxia induces long term reprogramming of circulating and tissue myeloid cell behaviour through changes in the bone marrow compartment. Sarah has a long-term commitment to support the careers of the next generation of researchers and directs the Edinburgh Clinical Academic Track Wellcome PhD program for Health Care Professionals.
